This book is a response to my curiosity in the history of Persian literature. A collection of illustrations that expresses my feelings as a woman after a deeper understanding of classical poetry and finding that in some of these poems, the lover was actually “male”. These images are representing a housewife whose beauty has not been visible in the society and did not have a presence in the community.
As women were considered impotent, they were deprived of any kind of education. A desirable woman at the time was defined by her cover-up and modesty, and her main duty was motherhood, feeding, baby sitting and obedience. I’ve seen myself in the body of that woman, and I wanted to free her of all those barriers and traditions. A woman who believes that love has no gender.
